Phones

There’s no question that Apple’s iPhone started a technological revolution in which consumers fell in love with the finger touch interface and the ability to combine mobile phones with MP3/MP4 players and digital cameras. Chinese mobile phone manufacturer CECT saw a huge opportunity and pounced. Its P168 model (aka the iClone) looked and functioned so much like the original iPhone that Popular Science magazine called it “the real deal.” The battery is removable so that you are not chained the manufacturer. The iClone is dual sim which means that you can use two sim cards, giving you the ability to have two phone numbers / plans / networks on one phone. (Business people and students love this feature.) Also, the manufacturer added three surround sound speakers and an FM radio.
In addition to all of the extras, the core features are still there, including: the finger touch screen / interface; the ability to surf the web, email and text; full MP3 / MP4 capabilities; a digital camera; and Bluetooth.

Once word spread about the phone’s performance and the economy turned, the iClone’s popularity took off and the phone is now pretty much mainstream, with an entire industry of accessories available for it.

This phone was always priced much lower than the original, but since it’s become so mainstream, the price has come down even further. This phone is really popular with students or with executives who want two phone numbers and the latest technology without paying a ridiculous and continuing price for it. I still absolutely love mine.

The Quad Band version of the iClone has finally arrived. Like the previous iClone model, this phone can do virtually anything you need it to. With it’s touch screen, you can surf the web, download and listen to music, record and play video, etc. This phone also has a removable battery (unlike the iPhone) and has TWO sim slots allowing you to basically have a phone for business and leisure.

Here is how the new version quadband CECT P 168 Plus compares to the old version:

It works with any network worldwide. (GSM GPRS 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900 MHz). They have also: upgraded the Bluetooth features; upgraded the firmware; added a slide unlock (which means anyone can unlock this phone in one swipe); added a webcam; and upgraded the phone with surround sound. The touch screen on the quadband version feels a bit firmer (and more like glass) than the original. The videos floating around for this phone (link at the end of the article) can really demonstrate what this phone can do. Here are a list of the features:
